Congratulations need to go to the EAGC captain, Michael Baxendine, for leading and supporting the team during the week, especially since this was his first experience of the unique atmosphere and pressure the tournament creates. |

Round 2: Lost to Charterhouse 3 / 2
When David Simson & Iain Smith defeated a current England internationalist in winning their game 3&2, and Olly Lindsay & Michael Gray won their game at the 18th green, the stage was set for Colin McClung & Chris Tugwell in the second game to try and win the vital third point. Standing in the middle of the 18th fairway, watching the rest of the team congratulate Olly and Michael win the top match, Colin and Chris knew now that with the match standing at 2 wins each it was all down to their game. Having never been down the whole way round the game was poised at all square after nail-biting halves in par at the 16th & 17th, both holes played into a stiffening westerly wind.
In front of a gathering crowd the 18th was halved so it was into extra holes to decide who progressed to the third round. Unfortunately for Accies neither Colin or Chris could reproduce the brilliant golf that had got them to the verge of a memorable victory and a relieved Charterhouse pairing of Mark Benka and Tim Torgill came out winners.
Pairings Result
1. Olly Lindsay & Michael Gray Won 1 up
2. Colin McClung & Chris Tugwell Lost at 19th
3. David Simson & Iain Smith Won 3 & 2
4. Ken Hannah & Johnny McGlynn Lost 4 & 3
5. Steve Malcolm & James Bryce Lost 6 & 5
