Edinburgh Academical Cricket Club celebrates its 150th Anniversary in 2005.

There will be a number of events to mark the occasion, including a formal dinner at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre on Saturday 2nd April 2005. The principal guest speaker will be former Lancashire, Durham & England opener and Sky TV commentator, Graeme Fowler. Tickets priced £50 can be obtained from Club Secretary, Martin Burns. His email address is mdcb@keeganwalker.co.uk

Last season (2004) was a reasonably successful one both for the 1st XI and the 2nd XI. The 1st XI (captained by Shaun McWilliam) finished 6th in the South Division of the Scottish National Cricket League with six wins out of 14 matches. Club professional, Steven Spoljaric, finished top of the Division bowling averages with 39 wickets at 9.79. He also finished fifth in the Division batting averages with an average of 63.91 (including four centuries). He was ably assisted throughout the season by Justin Cox, our Australian 'overseas amateur'.

The 2nd XI (captained by Martin Burns) finished 7th in Division 5 of the East of Scotland League. It was sometimes a struggle to get a full team together for the 2nd XI so if you are interested in playing for us - even on an occasional basis - please telephone Martin Burns on 0131 476 7884.

The Cricket Club has been 'open to all' since 1974. However, the backbone of the Club has always been its 'Accie' contingent. This season no less than fourteen current or former pupils of the Academy played for one of the two elevens, namely, Richard Allison, David Blair, Martin Burns, Alastair Carmichael, Stuart Cosh, Dave Hill, Nick Lyell, Andy Moffat, Stuart Moffat, Anthony Ostrowski, Harry Paton, Charlie Robertson, Niall Sellar and Alistair Swarbrick.
